Time for giving: Colorado Gives Day takes place Dec. 7

Posted

It is that time of year to start thinking about thanks, and giving.

Colorado Gives Day

Colorado Gives Day takes place on Dec. 7 this year.

If you’re not familiar with what this is, Colorado Gives Day is an annual “statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving,” states its website.

I love it because it’s a hyperlocal, modern way to support our communities.

The greatest thing about Colorado Gives Day — versus donating on any other day of the year, which is good, too — is that every nonprofit that receives a donation of any amount before midnight on Dec. 7 also receives a portion of the Community First Foundation’s $1 million Incentive Fund. This means that the total amount of the donation that the nonprofit receives is increased. The catch for the incentive fund is that the donation has to be made specifically on Dec. 7. But, worry not — beginning on Nov. 1 and through Dec. 6, you are able to schedule a donation to go through on Dec. 7, Colorado Gives Day.

Every registered nonprofit is eligible to receive Colorado Gives Day donations. To me, it is so much fun to browse and learn about all of the nonprofits we have here in our great state. You can browse by location, cause and keyword, or, you can type in a specific name of a nonprofit if you already know which one you want to donate to.

The hard part is trying to determine which one to give to, because there are so many that do amazing work for the betterment of our communities. So whatever your passion is, there is a nonprofit out there for you!

Readers Care

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Colorado Community Media’s Readers Care Voluntary Contribution Program.

We here at the newspaper love providing you with reliable, trustworthy hyperlocal news, including, but not limited to, things-to-do that build community and interesting human-interest stories.

Through the Readers Care program, you can help support the Washington Park Profile/Life on Capitol Hill directly with a one-time contribution by visiting https://coloradocommunitymedia.com/readerscare.
