‘Something bigger than themselves’

The Denver Fire Department welcomed its newest members during a graduation ceremony in January, marking the recruits’ successful completion of the fire academy. They bring the Denver Fire Department to 1,042 active members.

The third class of graduates of 2019 totaled 23 people who range in diversity from a professional boxer and a former tight end for the Denver Broncos, to two female military veterans and a man currently deployed with the military.

Denver firefighters are dedicated and held to high expectations, said Chief of Department Eric Tade in his speech during the graduation. “Our people join the Denver Fire Department to be part of something bigger than themselves.”
