Denver Public Library celebrates Black History Month with virtual events, programs

Posted

The Denver Public Library is inviting everyone to celebrate Black History Month through its lineup of virtual events and programs.

All of the events and programs celebrate and honor African-American history and culture. They are appropriate for any age and take place throughout February.

The first event is the library's annual Juanita Gray Community Service Awards. It takes place at 1 p.m. Feb. 6.

According to a news release, “Juanita Gray was a longtime Denver Public Library staff member and community advocate. The awards remember Gray's legacy each year by honoring current leaders in the community who embody the same trailblazing spirit as Gray.”

Other programming includes virtually-hosted discussions, both based on books and other topics; suggested reading lists and many other educational experiences. Registration is required for the virtual programming.
