DECEMBER STAFF BOOK PICK
Team Member: Miss Honeybun
RECOMMENDATION: Mary Poppins (audiobook format)
GENRE: juvenile literature
MISS HONEYBUN SAYS: From the moment she arrives at Number Seventeen Cherry Tree Lane, mysterious nanny Mary Poppins brings wonder and adventure to the Banks family. Find magic in every chapter of this charming audiobook: peer into an enchanted carpet bag, slide up bannisters and join a floating tea party with Miss Poppins and the Banks children. P.L. Travers’s original text is every bit as entertaining as (and I daresay funnier than) Disney’s cinematic adaptation (which I also love). You might recognize narrator Sophie Thompson’s voice, especially if you enjoy British films and television. Thompson’s impressive résumé includes Four Weddings and a Funeral, Gosford Park, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In her capacity as narrator of Mary Poppins, she is practically perfect in every way!
Five out of five carrots! Best enjoyed with tea and cakes.
Mary Poppins (and thousands of other audiobooks) are available for FREE with your library card through the Libby App by Overdrive. See below for more information about the Libby App!
