Bonnie Brae Tavern closes after 88 years

The Bonnie Brae Tavern, 740 S. University Blvd., had its last day of service in late June — the same month the establishment celebrated its 88^th anniversary.

A neighborhood establishment for drinks and food, the Bonnie Brae Tavern offered its patrons a little of everything from wings, salads, sandwiches and burgers, to pizza, spaghetti, chile rellenos and smothered burritos.

Westword reported that in 2019, a certificate of non-historic designation was issued for the building, and that an apartment building may be in the future for the property.
